Tiranga Paneer Tikka

                                                           
                                           Happy Republic Day to all!!

Republic day would have been like any other day for me in Qatar till last year {except for loads of status messages and cards in fb, of course..} but this time was different… I have my own blog now!! (Can’t believe sometimes..) I really wanted to post some Tiranga dish to mark the occasion and went google searching… This time i found a super easy but delicious starter, Tiranga Paneer Tikka… I was super excited as both of us are HUGE Paneer lovers… 🙂

                                    Now the most difficult part was to get the three colors similar to the Indian flag, Saffron-White-Green… While the recipe mentioned Saffron colored tikka as Paneer tikka and Green one as Paneer Hariyali, their white tikka was actually yellow using turmeric and cumin… So i skipped the powdered spices so that it gets that perfect white color….and it worked!! Don’t they look perfect symbolizing the Indian flag?? We enjoyed eating all three tikkas together in a super delicious bite….


                                 This recipe is super easy and actually includes three recipes in one- Paneer Tikka {Super spicy!},Lasuni Paneer {Garlicky flavor!} and Paneer Hariyali {Mint coriander flavors!} with the Paneer tikka being my favorite…. Just love its spicy flavors…. So do try this super yummy recipe and celebrate this Republic day with delicious food at home… Happy and Healthy Cooking!!

RECIPE:

Adapted fromLove Food Hate Waste

Ingredients:
15- 20 cubes of Paneer/Cottage cheese {immersed in hot water for around 10 mins}
1/4 Capsicum,cubed
1 Onion,cubed
1 Tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
3 Tbsp Curd/Yogurt
1/2 tsp Oil
Salt to taste

For the Red Marination:
1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
1/2 tsp Kasuri Methi/Dry Fenugreek leaves
1 tsp Cumin Powder
1 tsp Garam Masala Powder

For the Green Marination:
5-6 Mint Leaves
4 sprigs of Coriander leaves
1 Green Chilli
1/2 tsp Fennel seeds, ground

Recipe:
1. Take Paneer , Capsicum and Onion cubes in a bowl..

2. Add ginger garlic paste,yogurt,oil,salt and mix well.. Keep aside for 5 to 10 mins..

3. Divide this mixture equally into three bowls..

4. For the red Paneer tikka, add chilli powder,kasuri methi,cumin powder and garam masala powder and mix well..

5. For the green Paneer tikka, grind mint,coriander and green chilli to paste.. Add ground fennel and mix well..

6. Preheat the oven to 180 C for 10 mins..
7. Arrange all three marination’s on skewers and place on a greased foil…

8. Bake for 8 to 10 mins at 180 C till the surface is slightly browned…

9. Remove and arrange on a plate…
Serve hot with tomato ketchup and mint coriander chutney!
Notes: 1. If desired, you can spice up the white marination with garam masala and cumin powder too…
2. You can also shallow fry the marinated pieces on a frying pan instead of baking..
