Instant Poha Idli | Soft, No Grind Idli

                                               “Lifesaver recipes” – Do you have a list of some of these quick recipes which your family absolutely loves? I am sure they come handy during those busy days where you have umpteen number of things to do (or for those lazy days when you have no mood to cook elaborate) and just want to whip up a quick but filling meal .. Here is one such meal! I call this a meal because these idlis have become our brunch on most of those “late rising” days.. Just mix in, steam and yummy idlis are ready like magic!
                                              This recipe was posted by one of my friends Roopa Bhandary akka on fb and it had spread like wildfire with so many people trying and loving the recipe.. I too gave it a try, all curious about the outcome and was pleasantly surprised to see the idlis turn out so soft and tasty.. After that, these have become a regular at our place.. My little girl also loves them a lot making it a super hit recipe..

Health Benefits of Poha/Rice Flakes: Prevents Diabetes, Heart diseases, High cholesterol and helps in losing weight..

Ingredients: {Makes around 12 regular size idlis}
1 Cup Poha/ Beaten rice/Avalakki (Thin variety)
1 Cup Curd/ Yogurt
1 1/2 Cups Idli Rava/ Rice Rava
Salt to taste

1. Mix in 1 Cup Poha and 1 Cup Curd in a bowl..

2. Add washed Rice Rava to this and mix well..

3. Add salt and around 1 Cup (or so) water to bring it to idli batter consistency..

4. Steam the batter in greased idli moulds for around 15 to 20 mins..

5. Allow it to cool and then remove the idlis..

Serve hot with any spicy chutney of your choice!

P.S: This idli has a unique flavor and can’t be compared with the regular idlis.. We love it a lot and hence, a weekly once fare at our place.. Try it to love it!
