Instant Oats Idli

We never realize the value of something until it goes away from us…Have u felt it anytime? I have… But this is nothing to do with a person…Its all about idli…Idli?? You might ask.. Yes.. I feel we all have little memories with food.. It can be the food you first prepared yourself(Maggi for me and most people i know!) or the food you always had with your friends (Chaat for me!) or your favorite food made by your mom when you had deeply craved inside for it (Always Sheera!)… So we do have a million wonderful memories with food..

Coming to Idli, i have eaten it umpteen number of times right from childhood but was never a fan of it..Would always wait for the evenings when mom used to prepare Idli usli or seasoned idli crumbles from the leftover ones..Wow! Those were yum times! But things changed after i got married and came to Qatar…After months and months of dosas, upmas and pohas,i finally started missing idli.. Used to crave for it so much that we were a permanent part of Vasanth Bhavan here…Their idli vadas are something to die for!!But why dint i prepare idlis at home? Actually there were 2 problems..One was i did not have an idli stand and did not get a good one here..Second was i did not have a grinder(still dont!) to grind the super smooth batter required for soft idlis..

Meanwhile i got to know about the instant rava idlis(Father of instant idlis!) and was waiting to try it..So as soon as my dad bought me this super cute baby idli stand(Dont mind! I love it!), i tried rava idlis and it was a instant hit with my husband..So i searched for more and more such idlis and got two more..One was Instant Cornmeal Idlis which are a yummy way to add cornmeal(makkai) to your diet and the other is this Instant Oats Idli which i got from Shobhana maams cooking blog though i have changed  the recipe slightly by not powdering the oats and adding them whole(Believe me! Its not necessary!)..You will never realize the change..One more fun part about this recipe is that you don’t have to roast the semolina prior to the preparation..

So, enough of my chatter and happy trying with this yummy easy healthy breakfast!!
