Cabbage Aloo Sabzi | North Indian style Cabbage & Potatoes

It is very rare that i cook and blog-post on the same day.. Not that i don’t want to but usually there are other recipes in the queue.. Now that i have almost cleared my queue {Was adamant on that!}, new recipes can be instantly posted.. So here is my lunch for today – Rotis with Cabbage Aloo Sabzi.. This sabzi is the simplest and quickest of all sabzis and one of those rare dishes which i made after recollecting my taste buds.. Now if your wondering what “Recollecting taste buds ” is, here is my little story {as usual!} to describe it…

At my parents’ place, every Saturday we had {and they still have! *sob*} a “Eat out” dinner… Me and my brother used to wait for this day to gobble the special treats.. Treats ranged anything from fried rice-gobi manchurian to masala dosas to chole batura to a special Rajasthani meal.. In this meal, they used to have a super delicious cabbage sabzi with huge chunks of potatoes in it.. The curry was flavored with red chilli powder and the lemon along with coriander leaves which were generously garnished gave it that special zing..  This dish was my favorite in the meal..

After marriage, along with many other things, this meal and especially the sabzi was something i missed the most.. Here comes the “Recollecting tastebuds” part… Have you felt that when you really crave for something, the taste comes in your mouth? {Sounds crazy??}.. I definitely have felt it many times… So here i got this sabzi in my tastebuds and went to recreate it…
And imagine my happiness when it tasted exactly like the ones in the meal… My hubby too loved it even though it contained potatoes… So mission accomplished.. I was super happy that along with Cabbage Avial, i had found one more tasty way to finish the gigantic cabbage we get here.. So here’s sharing this simple dish with great flavors.. You too try it.. Happy and Healthy Cooking!!
