Bread Upma | Bread Usli | South Indian Style

Ahh.. I am relieved today! Ever since i started blogging, this recipe was haunting me to get added to my collection of Breakfast Recipes! and i have been postponing it like anything… I can definitely put a large chunk of blame on my hubby too for his love for milk bread while i am devoted to brown bread {He wins always, of course!}.. But this time i was adamant… I told him i had to add two new bread recipes,  Eggless French Toast and Bread Upma to my blog which i can’t add making with milk bread as it is made with refined flour and blah blah…..with as straight face as i could… The trick worked! He agreed!! 🙂 I was so excited, i made the french toast as soon we came back from shopping as a evening snack and this yummy bread upma right the next morning for breakfast…

Bread upma or usli as we call it has been an age old snack and breakfast item since i was a kid at my place.. I used to love it a lott but always used to tell my mom not to add urad dal in it as it used to get stuck in my teeth.. Lol! So many childhood memories are associated with this simple dish…

Even though my mom used to make it often, i rarely made it till our last India visit where my mom created her magic again and made this bread upma for us.. My hubby simply fell in love with it and made me promise i would make it often after we come back… So as per the promise, i have made it twice or thrice in the last fortnight alone and he was a happy man..

Bread Upma made with Milk Bread for my hubby..

So if you are bored eating the same old bread jam combo, give it a break and toss in the bread to make this delicious and super easy upma.. You will definitely love it! Happy and Healthy Cooking!!
