Achari Aloo | Spiced Potatoes

Yes, Finally the Eighth wonder has taken place at my home and all thanks to that, i am posting an “All Potato” dish in my blog… For all those of you who are wondering what this fuss is all about, its nothing but a dear husband who hates Potatoes! So i never have the luxury to make a “Potato only” dish very often… And when i do get these lucky few chances like during a Masala Dosa breakfast, i utilize it to my max…. 🙂

So how did i get this chance? One of my friends Gayathri had posted this delicious looking Achari Aloo in KKAJ {#favfbfoodgroup} and i was like drooling and drooling at the dish when our admin announced that it was a members choice recipe and we had to make it and post the pic on a day {today infact!}… Was i happy?? I was Super Happy!!! Finally i had got a valid reason to tell my hubby why i was going to make a “Potato only” curry….. He knew how much i loved posting in KKAJ and i would never miss it if i could {and never for a aloo curry! Lolzz..}..

So what was his reaction when i told him about it?? His Best Frown Possible.. Not that i was not expecting it.. But when i tried again {and maybe again} he Agreed!!! I also explained the recipe to him and said it included a super healthy ingredient called kalonji and also a mix of different spices which gives it that superb taste and blah blah….. He gave me the “I have already agreed.. So leave me alone..” look…  I stopped not wanting him to change his mind… * Happy me Frowny hubby *

The Five Spices in Achari Aloo!

But there is a Twist in the story…. After he had his first bite of  Achari aloo with rotis, he told me the curry was simply marvelous… As i had mine, i understood what he meant…. The curry was like the best poatato curry i had ever had… It tasted like the ones they serve at north indian authentic dhabas {roadside eateries}.. Awesome taste… We enjoyed our meal with a smile on my face because his frown had changed to a happy face..

I thank Gayathri for this superb recipe… Do try this super yummy curry if you love potatoes and if you don’t, then definitely try this dish and you are sure to love this cute lil veggie… Happy and Healthy Cooking!!
